Writing a great persona
A persona is what makes your agent feel like a real teammate instead of a generic chatbot. It's built from two short documents: identity (who they are) and soul (how they behave).
The identity document
The identity document is a few sentences answering: what is this agent's name and role, who do they serve, and what is their single most important job? Keep it concrete — "Nova handles refund and order questions for an online store" beats "a helpful assistant".
The soul document
The soul document captures voice and judgement: tone, do's and don'ts, and how to handle ambiguity or escalate. Write the rules you'd give a new hire on day one.
✦
Show, don't tell. Two or three example exchanges in the soul document teach voice faster than a paragraph of adjectives.
